About RH Dial
RH Dial covers one question: which humidifier keeps a bedroom between 30 and 50 percent relative humidity without becoming a chore or a mold farm. That number is the EPA's, and the whole site is built around it.
Nobody here runs a humidity chamber. We do not own a climate chamber and we do not write as though we had slept next to every machine on this site. What we do is read the organizations that do test, including Consumer Reports, RTINGS, CNN Underscored, Wirecutter and Which?, collect the Amazon listings themselves, and put the two side by side so you can see which claims survive contact with evidence.
Three rules we hold to. Every spec is labeled with where it came from. Every pick says who should skip it. And when the evidence is only a maker's spec sheet, the card says so in the pills at the top, which is why some good products score lower than you might expect.
The site is edited by Margot Sandoval. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, which never changes the order of the picks. Several of the most useful things on this site, such as emptying the tank daily and buying an $18 hygrometer, earn us nothing.
